Shift-Offer Algorithm Setup

To view the offer-algorithm setup created in the system, click on the left hand menu item titled "Offer Algorithm Setup" as seen below.
This action will bring you to this page below:
This page describes the factors used in programming to determine how the simple and complex algorithms are calculated.

You do not need to worry about adjusting anything on this page and is here for your viewing at this time.

By choosing "Simple" as the offer algorithm setup in group management which is what was suggested in those modules, all responses by staff will be listed in the open staffing requests screen. The list of respondents will enable the shift creator the opportunity to select any response.

In the case of the complex algorithm, all responses will be "greyed out" and the shift offer creator will only be able to select the best economical option available as well as whose turn is next in line to receive the shift offer. This has been designed to avoid favouritism when awarding shifts as well as promoting fairness and equality.

While the complex algorithm has been designed as the most ideal option to use, some organizations base their shift-offer decisions on seniority from date of hire or even hours worked in total. As this varies greatly, and as unions are often involved, it is advised to use the simple algorithm during group management setup to keep all response options open.
